SCS Cello Camp: Costa del Sol with the support of Project Music Management

We are thrilled to announce the 1st SCS Cello Camp will take place in the Costa del Sol, Spain, from 7-14 November 2016. This is made possible through our partnership with Project Music Management and their fabulous support.

Participants will soak up culture in the historic, sun-baked sites around the Marbella area of Costa del Sol, one of Spain’s most desirable destinations, and also have the option of a one-day cruise across the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier and Africa.

Each participant will receive 3 private lessons from SCS director Jacob Shaw – as well as group sessions, educational trips and performance opportunities.

Pirastro Strings will sponsor each cellist selected on the SCS Cello Camp. Each selected participant will receive Pirastro products on arrival – including a set of their new “Perpetual” cello strings (worth over 400 euro).

This is a unique cello camp with 100% tuition fee scholarships for 6 participants, born before the year 2000. Accomodation is offered at a reduced rate for all accepted participants. To apply, please visit the Application section on this website before 1st August 2016 (please note that early application is recommended).

Katherine Yoon Debut in Berlin Philharmonic with Berlin Chamber Orchestra

In January 2016, Katherine Yoon (USA-KOREA, born 2002) travelled to Berlin, Germany to give her concerto debut in the Berlin Philharmonic Hall. She played the Saint-Saens Cello Concerto with Berlin Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Roland Mell.

Jacob Shaw travelled to Berlin on behalf of Scandinavian Cello School to assist with final preparations, including private coaching and attending all rehearsals with orchestra.

Katie gave a fantastic performance in a well attended concert.

We look forward to following her development – bravo from everyone at SCS!
