SCS represented at cello competitions

SCS will be represented in the jury of two competitions for young cellists in the month of June and July.

compsThe international FLAME competition takes place in Paris and was founded in 1990. Laureates for cello have included Edgar Moreau, Guillaume Martigne, Tristan Cornut, Ivan Karizna and SCS director Jacob Shaw (1st prize winner in 2008).

The Raphael Sommer scholarship was established in 2002 in memory of Raphael Sommer by his mother Alice Herz-Sommer and his widow Geneviève Sommer. The board of trustees are Arto Noras, Yan-Pascal Tortelier, David Sommer and Ariel Sommer. Auditions are held each year in London and the foundation awards scholarships to highly talented young cellists.

SCS director Jacob Shaw will be a member of the jury at both competitions.
