750.000 dkk / 100.000 euro
Scandinavian Cello School has received 750,000 DKK (100.000 euro) from Denmark’s National Rural Development Fund for our new project “Lyden af Stevns – kultur i bevægelse.”
The grant comes as SCS celebrates its 10th anniversary and will help us bring around 30 concerts, workshops and open cultural activities to our local community on Stevns over the next two years.
Since making Stevns our home in 2018, we have always wanted SCS to be much more than a place where young musicians come to study. We want the international musicians visiting us to become part of the community around us – and for world-class classical music to be something you can experience right here in the countryside.
The new project will bring professional musicians and young international talents out across Stevns, creating concerts and activities in local venues and unexpected places, while continuing to develop the close relationship between SCS, our musicians and the people who live here.
The funding was announced by Denmark’s Ministry of Cities and Rural Districts as part of 18.7 million DKK awarded to 49 development projects across Denmark.
For us, it is a wonderful way to begin our next ten years – and a huge vote of confidence in the idea that ambitious international culture can grow from a small community in the Danish countryside.
