A Decade of Innovation: Scandinavian Cello School Welcomes New Director
As the Scandinavian Cello School (SCS) approaches its 10-year anniversary, we are pleased to invite new leadership to join the institution’s internationally celebrated mission.
Jacob Shaw, Founder, will be taking the helm of Artistic Director, while Anna Boysen Lauritsen steps into his place as Director, supported by five new board members, each with expertise in culture, sustainability and the arts.
Located on The Musical Farm, a self-sufficient micro-farm near UNESCO’s Stevns Klint, SCS welcomes over 150 musicians from around the world each year to residencies which emphasize a more holistic approach to musical mentorship, merging it with sustainability, mental health, and community engagement.
SCS, acclaimed for its radical approach to music education, made global headlines in 2021 with a New York Times front-page feature, reaching over 2.1 billion people worldwide. Since then, its prize-winning alumni have continued to garner SCS international acclaim, launching collaborations spanning the globe – as seen on their YouTube series The Musical Farm.
A new documentary, supported by the Danish Film Institute and Creative Europe, will be released in 2026 by Good Company Pictures as part of the 10 year celebrations. With its unique mix of farming, music, and innovation, SCS is shaping a bold new future for classical music. For more details, see our full press release.
